The white opaque zirconium glazes are based on ceramic frits. The zirkonium silicate is an opacifier that is melted in the frit.
They have high chemical ressistance, they are food safe and they are suitable for glazing of dinnerware, tiles and also they can be used as addition in the raw feldspar glazes for 1180-1250°C. For example for sanitaryware ceramics. They are suitable for majolica glazes or for decorating with onglaze colours, decals, lustres or liquid gold and platinum. |
They are suitable for products made from red and white body with COE a20-500°C= 55-75·10-7K-1. If they are use on a body (clay) with incompatible COY the can crack or peel of. Practical test is needed. |
The glazes can be coloured in pastel shades with0,5-8% ceramic colour stains (pigments). They can be mixed with lead-free glazes from the serie '"B". BB glaze series must be seived before use!!! |
