The transparent lead-free glazes are based on ceramic frits with 0% lead oxide content. The firing temperature is 800-1200°C. They have high chemical ressistance, they are food safe and they are suitable for glazing of dinnerware, tiles and also they can be used as addition in the raw feldspar glazes for 1180-1250°C. Some of them can be used for COE regulation. They are suitable for products made from red and white body with COE a20-500°C= 55-75·10-7K-1. If they are use on a body (clay) with incompatible COR the can crack or peel of. Practical test is needed. |
In case of lower firing temperature or thicker glaze layer the glaze can more or less loose its transparency. |
The glazes can be coloured with 2-10% ceramic colour stains (pigments). They can be used for covering underglaze designs but only if the firing tepmperature is above 1080°C. Glazes must be seived before use!!! |
